there are 12 girls  and 18 boys who want to participate in a Trivia Challenge. If each team must have the same number of girls and boys, what is the greatest number of teams that can enter? How many boys and girls will be in each team?

If all of the 12 girls and 18 boys are participating, then the greatest number of teams possible is 6. This is because 12 and 18 are both divisible by 6

 

There will be 2 girls and 3 boys on every team.

 

We can double check our numbers:  

 

6 teams of 2 girls = 12 girls

 

6 teams of 3 boys = 18 boys

 

This means all the children are accounted for.
