Find the exponential function that passes through the points (0,4) and (2,100).

An exponential function has the form 

 

y = a*b^x  

 

If the function goes thru (0,4) then 

 

4 = a*b⁰ = a  ==>  a = 4

 

If the function goes thru (2,100) then 

 

100 = 4*b²  ==>  b² = 25  ==>  b = +5  since the base of an exponential function cannot be negative 

 

So y = 4*5^x
