The pressure exerted by a certain liquid at a given point varies directly as the depth of the point beneath the surfaace of the liquid. the pressure at 50 feet is 22 pounds per square inch. what is the pressure at 190 feet?

Use the given information (P = 22 when D = 50) to figure out what K is 

 

22 = K*50  ==>  K = 22/50 = 11/25 

 

Now use this value of K to find P when D = 190 

 

P = (11/25)*190 = 418/5 = 83.6 pounds per square inch
