Great question! We must use the rule of exponents to solve this. When multiplying or dividing like exponents, the value of the base remains the same, and we add or subtract the values. In this case, the constant, 50, simply remains the same. our value of n^9 / n^5 = n^ (9-5) = n^4.
As for m^(-6), we know that raising any value to a negative exponent is equivalent to 1 over that value to a positive exponential value. In other words, a-x = 1 ⁄ ax. In this case, 1 / m-6 = 1 / (1 / m6), which simplifies into simply m6.
So our solution is:
50m6n4

"Solve" is an instruction to determine the value of the variable that makes the equation true. An expression is given (to simplify?), not an equation. Vocabulary in mathematics in important!12/05/24
