Some people say that Music Theory is not necessary and what's the point of learning it if you can already plan an instrument well? The way I think about it is analogous to how we think about cars (allow me to explain). When you learn how to drive a car, you don't think about how it works, you just ride it or drive it. But when the car breaks, you have to service it and find the person who knows all the inner details how this car works in order to be able to fix it. In addition, when people know how cars work, they can build all kinds of insane cars and improve them if need be! It's the same with music theory - with an understanding of how music works, one can compose, arrange, transcribe, and hear whatever they want! It opens up the world of possibilities and opportunities and allows one to fix any 'odd-sounding' chords or intervals that come up in their writing. Essentially, Music Theory is the written language of sounds, and if you learn it, you can use these sounds in all kinds of ways, like a painter using colors!
