Let’s start with the analogy that “the kitchen to the house is the stomach to the body”.
This will allow you to realize how important it is to have a clean and uncluttered kitchen.
One of the golden tips is to go through your kitchen cabinets, under the sink, drawers and other spaces every 4-6 months and do an inventory check. Any tool, cookware, container, etc. that been unused for that period of time, you may store it in higher units, or -if applicable- get rid of it. This will help you reduce the clutter and maintain the cleanliness of your kitchen. Another helpful tip is to keep 1-2 sets of measuring cups and spoons, this will help you prepare more than one recipe at the time. Also, it’s great to have a thermometer in your fridge to monitor the temperature and get alerted if something goes wrong with your fridge.
More simply, you can think that you need to keep your kitchen clean and organized to keep yourself well!
On the other hand, let’s talk about the setup of the items in relation with the tasks. For example, you may create a hot drink station at a convenient spot in your kitchen by placing your coffee/tea machine, mugs, small spoons, and (coffee, tea, sugar, etc.) close to each other, even better if you keep the snacks nearby. Do the same with baking gears and equipments.
Keeping the cooking utensils in a large container next to the stove is highly recommended. You also might keep the knives holder close to the cutting board. And when I say “cutting boards”, I think immediately of keeping one for cutting fruits (only), one for vegetables, one for raw meat, and one for cheese(s).
Working in the kitchen is fun, and preparing your meals by your own hands is a privilege!
