difference bwetween 2 3/8oz and 1 1 /8 oz?

Question

trying to divide in half the difference of bowl weighing 1/1/8, added dry mix now weighs 2 3/8 oz.  Need to know how I can cut dry mix in half?

Bowl's weight = 1 1/8 oz, bowl + mix = 2 3/8 oz

 

Mix weight = 2 3/8 - 1 1/8 = 1 2/8 oz = 10/8 oz

 

To cut in half, multiply by 1/2 (same as dividing by 2):

 

(10/8)*(1/2) = 10/16 = 5/8 oz
