In general, radicals should never appear in denominators.
y^(-2/5) = 1 / ( y^(2/5)) * [ (y^(3/5)) / (y^(3/5)]
= [ y^(3/5) ] / [ y^(5/5)] = [ y^(3/5) ] / y = (3√y5)/y
I used the carat because the superscript is extremely flaky. I was able to get it to work properly at the end.
