I will say the number of adult tickets = x, and the number of student tickets = y.
Since there were 90 tickets, x + y = 90
5 * x => total cost of adult tickets, 3 * y => total cost of student tickets
5x + 3y = 334
Now, we have x + y = 90 & 5x + 3y = 334
We can use either the substitution method or the elimination method.
Let's use elimination.
I will multiply (-3) to x + y = 90
-3x - 3y = -270
5x + 3y = 334 We add them !

2x = 64
x = 32
Hence, 32 adult tickets were sold !
