What are the pros of learning how to play the piano without notes?

There are many pros!

1. No need to rely on notes in many cases.
2. See a piano at a party, event, or airport? You can play based on memory!
3. You can be more creative with your playing, and it does not have to be exact such as if you were playing with a sheet of music.
4. It's fun!
5. Once you learn to play by memory, it is easier to start to learn how to play by ear and how to teach yourself to play new songs, solely based on your previously learned songs. This takes time, but is a huge pro in my opinion.

I would like to add on to this answer. I agree, learning or playing piano without knowing what the notes are has many pros to it! I am not a pianist myself, however, I was self taught on piano since that is what I used to write my own music. I feel as though that is what propelled my music forward, the idea that I did not have any strict rules or even guidelines to follow. It definitely had an influence to how I write harmonies in my music. My harmonies are dissonant as opposed to the traditional treatment of consonance. Lastly, I agree with the fact that it trains your ear immensely along with improv which can elevate your compositions greatly if you dabble into that field.
