3x-1 = 42x+2

log 3x-1 = log 42x+2

(x - 1) log 3 = (2x + 2) log 4


Can you substitute values and solve for x?

Divide both sides by 4. Notice the exponent on the right is not 2x + 3 any longer. When dividing, subtract the exponents so 2x + 3 becomes 2x + 2
