Hi Aida,
Yu did not specify a form for the equation, so I'll use Slope-Intercept, which is:
y = mx + b
m = slope
x= x-coordinate
y = y-coordinate
b= y-intercept
Now, to get slope, compute:
m = (y2 - y1) / (x2 - x1)
These are your two ordered pairs.
x1 = -6
x2 = 3
y1 = 8
y2 = -4
m = (-4-8) / (3- -6)
m = -12/9 = -4/3
Now, plug either pair and your slope back into initial y= mx + b equation and solve for b. I'll use (3, -4):
-4 = -4/3(3) + b
-4 = -4 + b
b = 0
y = -4/3x
I hope this helps.
