Math, microeconomics or criminal justice
linear function h(x) = y= mx +b
h(0) = -5, h(5) = 15
h(0)=-5= m(0) +b = b
b=-5
h(5) =15 = m(5) -5
5m = 15+5 =20
m =20/5 = 4
y = h(x) =4x-5 is the linear function

Either of these define the value of "h" at a certain value of "x" but it takes both of these to define the function h(x) PLUS we must also know that it is a linear function.
h(0) = -5 is just a single point on the function, the point (0, -5). A second point is (5, 15). Knowing that h(x) is a straight line would allow us to calculate the slope, and in combination with the y-intercept, we could write the function rule for h(x)
