You need to think about both bits of fact as individual rations. Your car traveled 40 miles in 35 minutes. You are looking at the velocity if the car travels at 60 mph. This means that the ratio is 60/1. The ratio traveled is 40/35. So, you write this out as 40/35 x 60/1.
This gives you 40 x 60 = 2400.
35 x- = 35, so your ratio is 2400/35. When you divide this out, you will find that the answer is 68.6 mph.
