Let A =[(-8, f(-8)] and B = ([-7, f(-7)].
The average rate of change over the interval from -8 to -7 is really just the slope of the line segment joining points A and B.
f(-8) = √57
f(-7) = √50 = 5√2
m = (5√2 - √57)/ (-7 + 8) = 5√2 - √57
