Let's consider that we have a rational function : ƒ(x) = (axm)/(bxn) then you can determine the vertical asymptote based on below criteria
- if m > n then no vertical asymptote
- if m = n then no vertical asymptote
- if m < n then
- for ƒ(x) = (axm)/(bxn) , vertical asymptote : x = 0
- ƒ(x) = (xm)/((x-d)n) , vertical asymptote : "x - d = 0" or "x = d"
