Per the other two answers, slope is -2 (m in the equation)
y = mx + b. Find b by substituting either of the ordered pairs for x and y.
6 = -2(-5) + b
b = 6 - 10 = -4
y = -2x - 4

slope = (-2-6) / (-1-(-5)) = -8 / 4 = -2
Equation of line: y - 6 = -2(x - (-5))
Solve for y.

line through (-5,6) and (-1,-2) has slope = ((6+2)/(-5+1) = -8/4 = -2
y = -2(x+1) -2
y = -2x -4 in slope intercept form, slope = -2, intercept = -4
