Math, microeconomics or criminal justice
3x^2 -7x + 5 = 2
3x^2 -7x +3 = 0
x = 7/6 +/- (1/6)sqr(49-4(9))
x= (7+/- sqr13)/6
or maybe you meant
x^3 +x^2 -7x +5 = 0
which is often more difficult to solve given a 3rd degree polynomial
but try an easy integer such as x=1
1 +1 -7 +5 = 0
0=0
x-1 is a factor
divide x-1 into x^3 +x^2 -7x +5 to get an easily solved quadratic equation
quotient is x^2 +2x-5 =0
x= -1 +/- .5sqr(4+20)
x = (-1+/-2sqr6)/2
= -.5 +/-sqr6
although it isn't clear what you mean by a=2
