After multiplying 1st eqn by 2:
-4x + y = 3
x - 3y = 2
Multiply 1st eqn by 3 to use elimination method (could also multiply 2nd eqn by 4 instead)
-12x + 3y = 9
x - 3y = 2
-11x = 11 → x = -1
Now you can solve for y and check answers. Also suggest you try plugging the original equations into the Desmos Graphing Calculator website for a visual solution.
