Over the course of five years a researcher sends 200 surveys by mail and receives 80 completed surveys back. In the next round of the research project the researcher wants to increase the number of surveys returned by 20. How many surveys should be sent out?

Need 20 more than 80; that's 100.

80/200 = 100/x Cross multiply to get 80x = 20000

so x = 250 needed to send to get 100 back.
