express f(x) in the form f(x) = (x-k)q(x)+r

f(x)=4x^3+x^2+x-9, k = -1

Stanton D.

So divide f(x) by (x-k), actually putting in the value for k. You should get a quadratic expression, and have a certain (your desired constant) remainder?
