We have the following:
-10x+8y=-18
-2x+16y=-18
We eliminate x to remain with y
(-10x+8y=-18)-2
(-2x+16y=-18)-10
20x-16y=36
20x-160y=180
0+144y=-144
So, 144y=-144
y=-1
Now, we replace y with -1 in the first equations to get x
-10x+8y=-18, but y=-1
-10x+8(-1)=-18
-10x=-10
x=1
Hence, x=1, y=-1
