Vertical lines appear in the form of x = (some constant). For instance x = 2 is a vertical line that passes through (2,0), (2, 1), (2,2), (2,3), (2,4) etc.
Horizontal lines appear in the form of y = (some constant). For instance y = 5 is a vertical line that passes through (0,5), (1, 5), (2,5), (3,5), (4,5) etc.
In your case, we are given the point (7, 17). At this point x = 7. Doesn't it make sense that the vertical line passing through this point is x = 7? Also, the y-value at (7, 17) is y = 17. Doesn't it make sense that the horizontal line passing through this point is y = 17?
