Solving the expression is very similar to adding terms with variables. Just like how you would only add "like" terms, the same rule can be applied to solving this equation.
(5 - 2i) + (1 + 6i)
Let's remove the parentheses
5 - 2i + 1 + 6i
Now at this step we can only add if they have like terms
Therefore,
the expression will become:
(5 + 1) + (-2i + 6i)
6 + 4i
Our answer will be 6 + 4i
