asked 06/15/22Point Slope Formula: What would be the new equation?
This is what I have so far
Slope: 3/4 (1,-8)
Y+8=3/4(x-1)

Looks like you did everything correctly.
Point slope form requires a slope, m, and a point, (x1,y1). They provide us with both!
The equation of a line in point slope form is: y - y1 = m(x - x1)
Substituting m = 3/4 and the point (1,-8) into the format, we have what you wrote:
y - (-8) = 3/4(x - 1) which we simplify to y + 8 = 3/4(x - 1).
The only alternative to the question is that maybe they are asking for the final answer in slope-intercept form in which case we could simplify further and solve for x.
Distribute the 3/4:
y + 8 = 3/4x - 3/4
Then subtract 8 from both sides
y = 3/4x - 35/4
or with decimals
y = .75x - 8.75
