Need help understanding this question

In this unit, you graphed quadratic functions. These graphs either open up or down. Give an example of a quadratic equation whose graph will open down. Make sure your example has an a, b, and c term. Explain why your graph will open down. For your example, find the vertex and axis of symmetry. Will your vertex be a maximum or minimum point? Explain why. Find the roots of your example. Where do these solutions appear on the graph? Write your equation in standard form AND in vertex form.
