The United States makes most of the investments in South America, and this goes all the way back to 1823 and the Monroe Doctrine. China is a close second.

Asia is a big place, so you'll have to specify which countries or area, but generally speaking, China is the big banker of the area, followed by Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan and Malaysia.
