An object 3.9 feet tall casts a shadow that is 11.7 feet long. How long in feet would the shadow be for an object which is 17.4 feet tall?

 Please help!

The triangle with leg length measures of 3.9 and 11.7 Is simliar to the triangle with leg lengths of x and 17.4
 

When two triangles are similar, they have the same angles and their sides will be in the same proportion.

The lengths of corresponding sides of similar triangles are proportional.
 
 
x/3.9=17.4/11.7
x=5.8 ft
