Simplify the expression

7 over n - 5 + n over n + 5 (Simplify your answer. Type your answer in factored form)

The answer I got is n2 + 2n + 35 over (n + 5)(n - 5)

Would that be correct?

Doug C.

That answer is correct and here is a way to confirm using Desmos graphing calculator: desmos.com/calculator/yrnclxn30u The two defined functions on Desmos have the same graph-disable and enable each one to confirm.

Something is wrong there! If your original was parsable as: 7 / (2n - 5) / (n+5) that runs down as 7 / ((2n-5)*(n+5)) since each division is performed as it arises, hence both n-terms end up in the denominator! -- Cheers, --Mr. d.
