To solve a problem where the unknown is in the exponent you must use logoriarithms but before we use the logoriarithms we need to isolate the term with the unknown exponent 

 

12^10u=6

 

now take the log of both sides

10u•log 12=log 6

u=log6/(10log12)=.072

12^10(.072) equal 6?
