In this version, you are to form a 5-digit number from the digits 1, 2, 4, 6, 7, 8, and 9, using each at most once.

Hi, I am glad the answer was helpful. I did not see the second part before. For the number to be less than 50000, the first digit must be either 1, 2, or 4. So there are only 3 options for the leftmost digit. But still 6 for the second, 5 for the third, 4 for the fourth, and 3 for the fifth. So the total is 3 * 6 * 5 * 4 * 3 = 1080.
