k would be equal to 5 or -5. This is because 5 or -5 are the only numbers where when you take the absolute value of these numbers,(that is what the two lines around k or i k i mean, making it positive no matter what is in the bracket. After taking the absolute value of k when it is equal to 5 or -5 then subtracting 6 from it, you will have a -1.
