A hydrate is when a compound combines with a water molecule signified by a period after the compound and then a coefficient signifying the number of water molecules the compound is bound to.
a) NiSO4.6H20 is a hydrate named nickel sulfate hexahydrate (6 water molecules combined)
b) MgSO4.7H20 is a hydrate named magnesium sulfate heptahydrate (7 water molecules combined)
c) NaCl is not a Hydrate as there are no water molecules combined with the compound.
d) Na2CO3.H2O is a Hydrate named sodium carbonate monohydrate (1 water molecule combined)
