A furniture company makes large and small chairs. A small chair takes 20 minutes of machine time and 60 minutes of labor to build. A large chair takes 50 minutes of machine time and 90 minutes of labor to build. The company has 66 hours of labor time and 30 hours of machine time available each day. How Many of each type of chair is built in a day?

60x + 30y = 3960

Let x = number of small chairs and y = number of large chairs

20x+50y= 30•60

60x+90y=66•60

x = (1800-50y)/20 = 90-5y/2

60(90-5y/2)+90y = 3960

5400-150y+90y= 3960

-60y=-1440

y=24

x=90-5(24)/2=30
