In a recent election, Nina received 0.25 percent of the 4,000 votes cast. To win the election, a candidate needed to receive more than 50 percent of the vote. How many additional votes would Nina have needed to win the election?

A) 1,901

B) 1,989

C) 1,990

D) 1,991

If Nina received 0.25 percent, that is 1/4 of 1%, 1% of 4000 votes cast is 40; divide that by 4 and, Nina received 10 votes.

Now, to win the election, Nina must collect 2001 votes (50% +1). 2001 -10 = 1991
