The length of a rectangle should be 14 meters longer than 8 times the width. If the length must be between 78 and 166 meters long, what are the restrictions for the width, y?

78<L< 166 substitute 14+8y for L

78 < 14+8y < 166 subtract 14

78-14 < 8y < 166-14

64 < 8y < 152 divide by 8

8 meters < y < 19 meters
