Instead of just giving the answer, I might have phrased the response this way... The denominator cannot be zero, so anything that would result in a zero in the denominator would not be allowed. So, we have two values that x cannot be equal to. That means (x - 4) cannot be zero and (x + 7) cannot be zero. Since both evaluations have to be in the denominator, we have /(x - 4) times /(x + 7) = /(x - 4)(x + 7).
