A line can only be parallel to some other line. Is there some other line mentioned in your homework? If so, remember that parallel lines have to have the same slope. So the line you're trying to find will have the same slope, but it will have to pass through the point (-2, 11).

(-2,11) is a point on the line y=mx+b where m is the slope and b is the y intercept.

m = slope = the coefficient of the x term if the equation is solved for y

given a line, y=mx +b, a parallel line will have the same slope, m, but a different y intercept. If it had the same y intercept, it would just be the same line

y=mx +b plug in the point to solve for b

11 =m(-2) + b

b = 11+2m
