Starting with the equation p(x)=3(2.5)^x, we can see that the part of the equation to the power of x is 2.5.
Since 2.5 is greater than 1, p(x) will get bigger as x increases ... therefore it is a growth function.
Conversely if the base that is to the power of x was less than 1, p(x) would decrease, and it would be a decay function.
