An exponential function has the general form:
h(x) = a·bx
- a is the initial value (when x = 0). It is also the y-intercept
- b is the exponential factor; growth when b > 1, decay when b < 1
- x is the exponent and is the variable
Your equation is h(x) = 5·(1/5)x. What are the values of a and b in your equation? Once you know those, you have enough information to answer the first, second and fourth questions.
For the third question, we can write the exponential factor, b, as b = 1 + rate where rate is the growth or decay rate expressed in decimal or fraction form. Hence b - 1 = rate. Convert it to decimal form and multiply it by 100% to convert it into a percent.
