Rewriting the equation: y = 2x - 3
When plotted, the graph rises rapidly after x turns positive. As x grows increasingly more negative, the term 2x approaches and goes to 0. The term -3 is what causes it to drop below the x axis, so we can add 3 to negate this naughty behavior. The resulting equation y = 2x has the same form, but there are no x intercepts.
