A private plane traveled from Seattle to a rugged​ wilderness, at an average speed of 132 mph. On the return​ trip, the average speed was 110 mph. If the total traveling time was 6 ​hours, how far is Seattle from the​ wilderness?

Actually, it is quite simple.

Let's say the distance from Seattle to the​ wilderness is X.

Then, based on two-way trip totally spend 6 hours and known each one way average velocity, we can get this equation which is X/132 + X/110=6

Solve this simple equation, X*(1/132+1/110)=6

242X=6*132*110

So, X=360

The answer is 360 miles.

Let t1 = time going at 132 mph

let t2 = time coming back at 110 mph

t1 +t2 = 6 hours

Then for the Distance traveled:

132t1 = 110t2

Solve these two equations for the times.

and you will get 360 miles is the distance from Seattle to the wilderness.
