x^2 +3x +2 = (x+2)(x+1). If the problem had been x^2-3x+2 then dividing by x-1 would leave x-2

x^2-3x+2 = (x-2)(x-1). the x-1 would cancel: (x-2)(x-1)/(x-1) = x-2

But (x+2)(x+1)/(x-1) = x+4 with remainder of 6 = x+4 + 6/(x-1)
