Are you sure your length is (3x - 5) and not 5x -2?
For the Rectangle
Area = length * width
Area/lendgth = width
If your area is
40x2 - 6x - 4
If your length is
3x - 5
You can do the long division or you can factor the quadratic appropriately since you already have one of the factors.You can also use the Quadratic Formula The quadratic you have listed does not appear to have 3x - 5 as a factor.
