The length of a rectangular garden is 6 FT less than 3 times its width. If the perimeter of the garden is 60ft, find the length (in ft) of the garden.

L = 3W-6

60 = 2L + 2W = 2(3W-6) +2W= 6W -12 + 2W = 8W -12

8W = 60+12 = 72

W = 72/8 = 9 feet wide

L = 3(9)-6 = 21 feet long

2(9+21) = 60
