First isolate everything on one side of the equal sign

Secondly combine like terms

Finally factor it

First

12x² +35x - 5x -20 + 2 = 0

Second

12x² + 30x - 18 = 0

Finally

(12x - 6)(x + 3)

You can check the above with FOIL to give

12x² + 36x - 6x - 18 = 12x² + 30x - 18
