Try multiplying both sides of the equation by 4 to clear the fractions 

 

3x^2 - 8x + 2 = 0

 

This doesn't factor, so use the quadratic equation 

 

x = [8 +/- sqrt( (64-(4)(3)(2) ) ] /6

x = [8 +/- sqrt(40) ] 6

x = [4 +- sqrt(10)]/3 

 

x ~ 2.387  or x ~ 0.279
