This doesn't factor, so use the quadratic equation
x = [8 +/- sqrt( (64-(4)(3)(2) ) ] /6
x = [8 +/- sqrt(40) ] 6
x = [4 +- sqrt(10)]/3
x ~ 2.387 or x ~ 0.279
