Heterotrophic organisms are consumers. Therefore, they cannot produce their own food.
Autotrophic organisms are producers. Therefore, they are capable of producing their own food via photosynthesis.
Examples of organisms that live in the Neritic Zone are crustaceans, fish, mollusks, algae, kelp, seagrass, and marine mammals.
Algae, kelp, and seagrass are autotrophic organisms. The other examples listed are heterotrophic organisms that inhabit the Neritic Zone.
