The question asks for the answer in standard form which would be Ax+By=C. To find this, we first have to convert the points into the slope-intercept form which would be y = mx+b.
We can find our slope using the rise over run formula: (-7-(-1)) / (3-4) = -6 / -1 = 6
This gives us y = 6x + b
To find our y-intercept, we just need to plug in one of our points. I will plug in the first point in this case.
-1 = 6(4) + b --> -1 = 24 + b --> -25 = b.
This completes our slope-intercept equation: y = 6x -25
Now we just have to convert it to standard form. Lets subtract 6x from both sides, giving us -6x + y = -25. If the coefficient for x were a fraction, we would have to multiply everything by the denominator. However, in this case, it is a whole number, so we don't need to worry about it.
The standard form of the equation is then -6x + y = -25 or 6x - y = 25 (multiplied both sides by -1).
