I’m okay, thank you for asking. I’m really confused because it’s a fill in the blank f(x) = ____x^2 + _____x +____. I kinda understand what you’re talking about but i’m confused how would I plug it into that?

Okay. So if you expand your (x+3/4)(x+1) you need to FOIL, first, outers, inners, last. Do you know this? If not, I can explain FOIL,

to plug in a number means that you insert that number instead of X

the first step in your problem to FOIL is to multiply x times x to get x squared

if you don't have a number in front of x squared or x^2, it's a given 1. so the first answer to your fill in is 1

if you multiply the outers and inners and add them together what do you get ? you get 1 x + 3/4 x which is 7/4 x.

if you multiply the lasts, you get 3/4 times 1, so that is 3/4

Ohhh okay, yes I really understand now but for the last to spots what exactly do I plug in because it has to be a whole number 0-9?

Is it a computer program that you are plugging into? and it's not accepting the fraction?

It’s a program “edulastic”, i have to plug the number in by dragging a number into the spots, and there’s only numbers 0-9, I can’t type it.

if you drag 7 and then put a division mark and then drag 4 would that work?

Gabby M.

Sadly no, it can only be one number, I can’t write in the box, only drag one number for each one.

you can try multiplying the entire equation by 4 to get rid of the fraction. that way you have 4x^2 + 7x + 3. so drag 4, then 7, and then 3.
